i already posted a little about the Wicked stage-door but the whole experience was awesome because I won the lottery so I got to sit front row!!! like 3 feet from where they sing!!! and I haven’t seen Wicked in 9 years so it was almost all new to me again. only three people came out the stage door. i know the guy that played Boq came out, and Brendon Stimson’s wife who played Nessa Rose, but I don’t remember the third guy.
i bought a front row ticket to see Newsies last night (2/19) so that I could see Adam Kaplan make his debut and let me tell you something, he KILLED IT. not only is he super cute, but he is a great dancer. even in the KONY number where Mike Faist usually did his nerve-tap move, Adam did his own thing and was just as good. every time he was on stage i was only watching him. and that was hard because again i was literally 2 feet from all of them!! i definitely made eye contact a lot with a bunch of them. and being so close i could see all of their quirky facial expressions, especially Corey Cott who was spot on and hilarious at points. Bres wasn’t there but Julian DeGuzman rocked it as Race and having seen Bres 4 times before as Race it was nice to see someone new for a change. it was also the first time i saw John Michael Fiumara as Specs. He was super adorable. at one point in KONY when they are dancing on the chairs and move them, his chair kind of shifted too far and when he went to sit down he totally missed but he recovered right away. ALSO, during the rally when everybody is clapping and Tommy Bracco (Spot) puts him arms out for everyone to stop, somebody in the audience cheered and Tommy started laughing, which made everyone start laughing.
of course i stage-doored after and was able to get almost everybody’s autograph on both my playbill and a piece of newspaper prop that they throw off the stage during Seize the Day. I also got a couple of pictures with the guys I didn’t have pics with yet (because i’ve seen it four times already) AND ANDREW KEENAN-BOLGER BECAUSE HE IS MY FAVORITE PERSON EVER AND I NEVER MISS A PICTURE WITH HIM.
pictures coming next……
I can’t believe I’m in manhattan but I’m not here to see the final performance of Peter and the Starcatcher or Ryan Steele’s last Newsies show. this is not fair.
Okay so today I went to the doctor in the morning and while I was seeing the doctor, my mom noticed somebody in the waiting room wearing a ‘Les Miserables’ Cast/Crew jacket.
So my mom asked if she had seen the movie yet and the girl was all like, “Oh yea I saw it a few months ago at a private screening.” And my mom was like, “oh wow how did you get to do that?” and she was like….
“I was in the 25TH ANNIVERSARY NATIONAL TOURING CAST”
OMG OMG OMG. So when I came out we all started talking and it turns out she played Madame Thenardier!!! She had been with the cast for 2 years and just left!! And since I’m like, the biggest Les Mis fan EVER I said I’m still waiting for it to return to Broadway - - -
And she said it most likely will be!! In 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And if you’re as big a ‘Les Mis’ fan as I am, this will excite you - - she said that if/when it returns to Broadway, Alfie Boe will play Jean Valjean!!!!!! I almost flipped a shit when she said that!! Although I saw the movie yesterday and thought it was AMAZINGLY INCREDIBLE, if it were up to me I would have just transplanted the entire 25th Anniversary Concert cast to the screen (minus Nick Jonas).
Felt like I needed to share this news. So forget 2013, I’m counting down to 2014.
saw les mis with my family today. it’s my favorite broadway show EVER. i’ve seen it 8 times (3x in London on the West End). i’ve been waiting for this day for 23 years and was so excited, i started crying before the movie actually started…and then didn’t stop until the lights came back on after……i’ll be seeing it 100 more times.
Merry Christmas from the @Newsies family!!!!!!
